Is it possible that additional customs duties will be charged after my package arrives in the United States? If so, could this delay the delivery?
Following the abolition of the De Minimis exemption for low-value shipments to the United States, Buyee has introduced a DDP (Delivered Duty Paid / duties prepaid) system for eligible shipping methods to the United States (including Puerto Rico) — specifically ECMS, DHL, UPS, FedEx, and Buyee Air Delivery.
To ensure a smooth shipping process, prepaid customs duties and customs clearance fees are automatically added at the time of payment when arranging shipment. These fees are calculated based on factors such as the product category and invoice value. Please note that the applicable tax rates are calculated with reference to the actual rates for each product category, while also taking into account various additional costs that may arise.
Since customs duties are paid in advance, customers will not need to pay import duties or customs clearance fees after the package arrives in the United States. As a result, we expect this system to help prevent significant delays and allow packages to be delivered more smoothly and quickly.
Please note that this change does not affect state or local taxes that may apply depending on your place of residence. For details regarding state taxes, we recommend checking with your local customs or tax authority.
